'Shot Scope' performance tracker launched

Recommended Posts

A new wearable golf performance tracker, from an Edinburgh based company, 'Shot Scope' has launched this week, Website is up and running and various video and images to see the stats package they provide, and apparently they will be attending the PGA show in Florida to showcase the product (so I assume there will be much more media after that)

So what makes it different to other devices that are already out in the market?

  • Wristband and tag system, that doesn't need to the tagged. It automatically senses the shot and tags the club, using a gps within the wristband to locate the distance etc.
  • Lots of stats, that I assume can be changed/updated by the company as and when they write new software. Doesnt use 'shots gained' but something similar to target your performance.
  • Battery should last 2 rounds in wristband (9hrs), you get 20 tags (spares plus some specialised shots?) can store 100 rounds of data before it needs to be uploaded. Shouldn't require any post editing (assuming the tagging system works as intended)

Not available until April 'ish and with a 20% off offer at the moment (regular pricing similar to game golf live). Will be interesting to see some reviews to see if the product perform as expected as the automated and reliable aspect is the one thing that I think is lacking from the GameGolf and Microsoft Band implementations.

Automated - the Microsoft band does this and I've seen in use which is pretty good.  Obviously only detects shot so you have to edit the club used post round.

Reliability - this is just a general tech issue and lots of outside factors will effect the accuracy if you are referring to the GPS/distance data

For me the automation and reliability go hand in hand. Forgetting to tag a shot in GameGolf would drive me mad, and the required editing after the round that missed shots requires. Having the wrist band detect the shot and the tag know what club you had in your hand seems like a win win to me.

Been using this system for a while and really enjoy it. No tagging and proximity to hole stats are a real plus. I used to have a game golf but always forgot to tag, Arcoss are an american company that do a similar thing but never used that so can't comment on it but if you don't like wearing a watch it may be the answer for you, having said that I don't find the band intrusive at all.
