Finally the USGA and R&A see sense!!

Recommended Posts

Even though I welcome the change, I can still see a problem. A ball moves, so who makes the final decision. A ball moves because a player "accidentally causes it to" means replace, but if the wind causes it to move, play from its new position. Who says what moved it?

Can't really see a huge issue. If you consider golfers to be honest then it's a non issue .... if you try to cater every rule for unscrupulous people then the rules will grow even more every year!

@TheLyth

I think Brian makes a valid point.

If, at address, my ball moves, I know if I have caused it to move or not!

The whole 'wind' issue is something you see on tour a lot when they are putting on greens that are like glass.

There are lot of rules that are aimed at stopping 'cheating' all at the expense of unfair occurrences on the course and in turn penalising honest golfers. My feeling is common sense should be used a lot more in golf. If your playing partners deem that you have not gained an advantage, then replace the ball and crack on!!
