A couple of weeks ago I foolishly attempted to clear grass from the wheel of my golf cart by rubbing the bottom of my shoe against the wheel, not a clever idea as my actions caused the nylon secondary gear in the gearbox to shatter! Result - an expensive new gearbox needed!! Not that I intend doing the same again, I can see that general wear and tear may wear and damage the same component. Do any manufacturers make gear boxes with metal gears?? Are gear box problems common?
